WE would all love to travel all the time, right? But there are those small matters of money, families, and what to do with the goldfish that prevent us from hopping onto a plane, train or automobile and seeing what adventures come our way.

And that's why travel books are so popular.

Travel Insights likes to take you beyond the obvious. Along with the latest Bill Bryson, we'll review historical travel diaries, or even the standard guides you know and love - but to the more unusual destinations.

As ever, we like to involve readers. If you don't agree with a review, or think you can do better, you can mail us directly after each review. We won't turn into an amazon.com web page with dozens of mis-spelt reviews on each book, but we will add the most pertinent comments.

And if you want to send us a review of a book we have not covered, then please do. first and let us know what the book is and when you can get a review to us, and we'll take it from there.
