TRAVEL Insights can help you plan your entire trip - and it is more fun with us than a travel agent! Ever since I first clutched a rail pass for Europe in my grubby hand and headed off into the blue yonder, I have had a passion for independent travel. And that was before the web was available!

Now, I cannot be stopped. Each flight, accommodation decision and highlight in between is carefully researched before each trip. Not that I can't be spontaneous, I just like to know my options :-)

So, for like-minded travellers, here is the Travel Insights Guide. Organized by city, and with a separate "transport" category. These are far from comprehensive lists, but they are the result of hard surfing, or visiting, labour! Businesses can request a link, but we will only oblige if suitably convinced. Travel agents need not apply; this is aimed primarily at hotels or tourist services.

Transport

  • Air Travel: List of major airlines, airports and alliances with news & comment
  • Online booking: List of major online booking sites (good for discount flights/hotels)
  • Rail Travel: List of major railway sites (including all European railways), plus sites for rail passes, Trans-Siberian, etc.
  • Bus Travel: The unfashionable, but cheap way to travel, includes European backpacker bus options
